The boonie counterpart to our NYCO RipStop Multicam® Cap. Its design follows the boonies used by British special forces, and it is cut from the same fabric the uniform itself is made of: Milliken® NYCO, the nylon/cotton rip-stop used for military field uniforms, at 57% nylon to 43% cotton and 185 g/m². The nylon carries the tear and abrasion resistance; the cotton carries the breathability and the softer hand against the forehead. That is why NYCO has outlasted every all-synthetic alternative in field use — it takes punishment without becoming a plastic bag on your head in the heat.

The rip-stop grid is the second half of the equation: a snag on a branch or a wire punctures the weave instead of running away into a tear, so a small hole stays a small hole. The whole hat weighs 73 g in S/M, which means it crushes into a cargo pocket and comes back out wearable. It is finished in authentic MultiCam® printed with NIR® — Near-Infrared Reflectance — treatment, so its infrared signature matches the rest of a NYCO uniform under night-vision optics rather than reading as a bright patch above your shoulders.

Performance Features

• Milliken® NYCO rip-stop: The genuine 57/43 nylon-cotton military uniform fabric at 185 g/m² — the nylon gives tear and abrasion resistance, the cotton gives breathability and comfort in heat.
• NIR® treatment: Near-Infrared Reflectance lowers the fabric's infrared signature so the hat does not stand out under night-vision optics and stays consistent with NYCO uniform items.
• Authentic MultiCam®: The licensed pattern, printed to match across the NYCO range, so headwear, cap and combat uniform read as one system rather than three shades.
• Rip-stop grid construction: Reinforcing threads woven at intervals stop a puncture from propagating into a tear — the difference between a snagged hat and a ruined one.
• 73 g packable: Light enough to carry without thinking about it and to stuff into a pocket or pouch, recovering its shape when you put it back on.
• Shortened all-round brim: Modelled on the boonie used by British special forces. The shorter brim keeps your view clear in any weather while still shading the eyes, face and back of the neck from direct sun — cover a cap cannot give.
• Ventilated: A mesh lining inside and two mesh vents on the outside keep air moving around your head in the heat.
• Neck cord with clip: Holds the hat securely in place in wind and on the move.
• Camouflage band: A band sewn around the whole hat for attaching additional camouflage.

Size Guide

This hat is offered in two combined sizes. If you normally take a small or medium in headwear, choose S/M; if you take a large or extra large, choose L/XL. If you are between the two, size up — a boonie is meant to sit comfortably rather than grip.
