The ALFA Light Jacket is Fahrenheit's technical insulated jacket for military use — a full-sleeve warming layer that weighs 491 g in size M - Length R. PrimaLoft® Gold at 80 g/m² runs through the body and arms: a microfibre synthetic developed for the US Army as a down substitute, with thermal resistance close to goose down but none of down's collapse when it gets wet. It is the layer you put on when you stop moving and the temperature does not.
Wind and precipitation protection comes from a durable Milliken® TactX™ nylon shell with DWR impregnation, and NIR® technology reduces the jacket's signature in the infrared spectrum. Construction detail is where it earns the price: a windproof placket behind the YKK main zip, a drawcord at the hem to seal out draughts, an inner collar finished in Polartec® Classic Micro, and five pockets — two zipped side, one zipped chest, two internal. When the temperature turns, the jacket folds into its own internal pocket and goes back in the pack.
Performance Features
- PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation: 80 g/m² through body and sleeves. Keeps insulating when wet, breathes under exertion, and recovers full loft after being compressed in a pack.
- Milliken® TactX™ Nylon Shell: Durable 100% nylon face fabric with DWR impregnation, blocking wind and shedding precipitation without trapping moisture inside.
- NIR® Technology: Reduces the fabric's reflectance in the near-infrared spectrum, lowering the wearer's signature under night-vision observation.
- 491 g and Self-Packing: Folds into its own internal pocket, so a full insulated jacket travels at roughly half a kilo of carried weight.
- Sealed Closure: A windproof placket backs the main zip and a drawcord adjusts the hem, closing off the two routes cold air normally takes.
- Five-Pocket Layout: Two zipped side pockets, one zipped chest pocket and two internal pockets, all on YKK hardware.
