UPF 50+

UPF 50+ · Sun protection in the fabric

Sun protection that does not wash off

UPF 50+ is the highest rating a fabric can carry: no more than one fiftieth of the UV gets through, around 98 % blocked, every hour it is worn. The protection is in the fibre, not a cream on the skin, so it does not wash off through the day and there is nothing to reapply.

Fabric, not finish. On every piece here the UPF rating comes from the yarn and the weave — Pure Cool® nylon, Polartec® Power Dry® polyester, NYCO — not a treatment applied over the top that washes out over time.

≤ 2 %

of UV passes through

A UPF 50+ fabric transmits at most 1/50th of ultraviolet radiation.

−1 to −2 °C

at the skin · Pure Cool®

Jade dust embedded in the nylon fibre lowers the temperature at the skin — a physical effect, not a finish.

2×

faster drying than cotton · Power Dry®

Sweat is pulled off the skin and spread across the outer face to evaporate, so the shirt keeps cooling.

Why it works

Cover the skin, keep the air moving, stay dry

Built in, not sprayed on

Sunscreen needs reapplying every two hours and comes off with sweat. A UPF 50+ fabric blocks the same UV all day, whether the garment is dry or soaked through.

Pure Cool®: jade in the fibre

Finely crushed jade is embedded in the nylon before the fabric is made. It draws heat off the skin and lowers the temperature there by 1–2 °C, slows the bacteria that cause odour, and dries fast.

Power Dry®: dry under load

A two-component knit: the inner face pulls sweat off the skin, the outer face spreads it to evaporate. It dries twice as fast as cotton.

Odor Resistant®: fresh for longer

Antibacterial protection built into the Power Dry® fabric stops the bacteria that cause odour, so a shirt worn hard in the heat stays wearable longer. Pure Cool® pieces do the same job their own way: the jade slows bacterial growth.

Build the set

Head, torso and legs, all rated

A full set covers you from the neck down. Pick by season: Pure Cool® pieces for the hottest days, Power Dry® when you are moving hard and need to stay dry.

The Raglan Power Dry and thermal pants are the same base layer that works in the cold — one set for both seasons, rated UPF 50+ either way.
