Flame-Resistant Fibre. Fast Moisture Transport. Flat Seams Under a Helmet.
This balaclava is knitted from Polartec® Power Dry® FR — a high-technology fabric that does not support combustion. The flame resistance is inherent to the fibre itself: the blend is 68% modacrylic, 29% rayon and 3% spandex, so the protection is built into the yarn rather than applied as a topical finish that degrades with washing and wear. For anyone working around vehicles, fuel, ordnance or open flame, that distinction is the whole point.
Power Dry® is a base-layer construction built to move sweat, and this one does it against the part of the body that produces it fastest under a helmet. The fabric pulls moisture off the skin and spreads it across the outer surface so it evaporates quickly, keeping the face and neck dry rather than clammy through long periods under cover. Seams are flat, so nothing digs in where a helmet strap, comms headset or plate carrier collar presses. The 3% spandex gives a close anatomical fit that stays put when you pull a helmet on or off, and Odor Resistant® antibacterial treatment keeps the garment fresh across consecutive days of wear.
Performance Features
- Inherently flame-resistant: The Polartec® Power Dry® FR fabric does not support combustion. Because the FR property comes from the modacrylic fibre itself, it does not wash out or wear off over the life of the garment.
- Power Dry® moisture management: The knit pulls sweat off the skin and moves it to the outer face to evaporate, so the head and neck stay dry under a helmet instead of soaking.
- Flat seams: Seams are flat-constructed to prevent irritation and hot spots under helmets, headsets and tactical equipment worn over long periods.
- Odor Resistant®: Antibacterial technology prevents odour build-up during extended wear between washes.
- Elastic anatomical fit: 3% spandex lets the balaclava conform to the head and stay in position through movement and helmet changes, without gripping.
