The Solar Guard raglan is a long-sleeve summer layer for men who spend their working hours in direct sun — on the water, on a ridgeline, on a range, on a site. It is built from Polartec® Power Dry®, a two-component base-layer knit whose inner surface lifts sweat off the skin while the outer surface spreads it wide for fast evaporation. At 110 g/m² with 13% spandex in the blend, the fabric is barely there but moves with you in every direction.
Long sleeves are the point. Covering the arms with a UPF 50+ fabric beats reapplying sunscreen every two hours, and the Sota camo print keeps the garment low-key in the field. The cut is relaxed so air circulates rather than sticking the fabric to your back, and flat seams run throughout, which matters on a garment worn against bare skin for twelve hours under a pack strap or a rod belt.
Performance Features
- UPF 50+ Sun Protection: Part of Fahrenheit's Solar Guard UPF 50+ line. The fabric blocks the overwhelming majority of UV radiation across the full sleeve and torso, so protection does not wash off or wear away through the day.
- Polartec® Power Dry® Moisture Management: Two-component construction with a capillary effect — the inner face pulls moisture off the body, the outer face spreads it for faster evaporation. It dries roughly twice as fast as cotton.
- Quick Dry: Soak it in a river or sweat through it on a climb and it is dry again quickly, which is what makes it viable as a multi-day travel and expedition shirt.
- 4-Way Stretch: 13% spandex gives full freedom of movement through the shoulders and arms — casting, shouldering a rifle, reaching overhead — with no hem lift.
- Relax Cut: Cut loose enough to keep air moving between fabric and skin, which is how a long sleeve ends up cooler than a t-shirt in strong sun.
- Flat Seams: Flat seam construction throughout for all-day next-to-skin comfort with no chafing under packs or slings.
