Thermal Base Layers

Polartec® Power Dry® · Power Grid®

Both keep your skin dry. The only difference is warmth.

Choose by the weather and the effort.

  • ECWCS III
  • Odor Resistant®
  • Hypoallergenic

Power Dry®

Lighter · 125 g/m²

For hard effort and cool days. Dries 2× faster than cotton and protects from the sun in summer – UPF 50+.

Power Grid®

Warmer · 231 g/m² grid fleece

For the cold and a slower pace. The grid channels hold warm air, while the raised points carry moisture away.

Which one is for you

Power Dry® or Power Grid®

Power Dry®

For active use when you sweat a lot.

Choose it for

  • High-output activity – hiking, running, skiing, tactical tasks, training.
  • Mild to cool weather and transitional seasons.
  • When you want a thin, highly breathable garment that feels like a second skin and dries extremely fast.

It’s a classic ECWCS Level 1 base layer: its job is to keep you dry, not to add much warmth.

Power Grid®

When you need more warmth while staying active.

Choose it for

  • Stop-and-go activity – hiking with breaks, climbing, ski touring, tactical work.
  • When Power Dry would be too thin, but breathability and fast drying still matter.
  • When you want insulation without thickness: the grid cuts the fabric’s weight and bulk.

It’s a classic ECWCS Level 2 base layer: its job is to keep you warm while your skin stays dry.

Often asked

What about merino wool?

Merino wool works well for low-intensity activity and longer wear between washes. But when you sweat hard, Power Dry® and Power Grid® remove moisture faster and last longer.
